alternative title: rhode island red
yesterday, i rented a "plot" of land from cook's community garden in charlotte, nc. ..it's about the size of a small bedroom (10 x 12) and costs $30 per year, plus 10 hours of volunteer time. ..the idea is to plant vegetables, etc. for personal use, and to help cultivate harvest for local food banks and shelters.
they also have a chicken co-op, where julie and i got to hold a rhode island red rooster.
below: sherry, julie, lenny, and "omelet" (although i think that his name should be "omelet's little helper").
