games

games
by ima ina big game

we sit around the table
we play our game of choice
we get into adventures and we make a lot of noise

as each game-board is dif-fer-ent (Essentially the Same)
a roll, a spin, a second skin; it's lose or win, with:

* our games of life come complete with Pre-game and Post-game, but that's a little hard to conceive (while in the game, and playing).

* series of events (while incredibly important during a game), have little to no effect on the Larger than Life experience that IS Pre/Post game.

* each game-board is seen from the perspective of the Seer, and sometimes we get very "caught up" in the seenery.

* if you were asked, what would you name this (earth-bound) game?
  • "sense-ations"
  • "comedy channel"
  • "illusions"
  • "dance: a roller-coaster of pleasure and pain"
  • "amazed"
  • "lucky 11"
  • "sight unseen"
  • "Big Game"

holding on to a dream

"holding on" or attaching to a dream is a likely way to quicken its end.

have you ever tried to hold onto a dream? ..what happened?

it's like grasping onto water. ..the harder we hold on, the less we get.

howwwwevahhhhhh...

if we can immerse ourselves in the water, if we can bathe in the experience of liquid refreshment -- then we (in that moment) are the process of immersion. ..we are One with our experience.

is it possible that we can hold onto a Dream by wallowing and playing in it, without trying to keep it?

breathing, massage and homeostasis

today, at gaston memorial hospital, i had the pleasure of facilitating a one-hour class entitled:

distress reduction
through breathing and chair massage

in a conference-style setting with over 90 medical assisting practitioners, we practiced dr. andrew weil's healing breath technique; the half-smile technique; and a mini-chair massage routine that can change a person's physiology in under 30 seconds.

although you never want to be the sixth and final instructor on a gorgeous, sunny, saturday afternoon... everyone made me feel extremely welcome.

a special thank you to all of the caregivers who dedicate themselves (day-in and day-out) to the well-being of our communities.

let's do it again,
:)

quiet little candle (2003)

quiet little candle
 by candi light

quiet little candle
   small bouquet of flowers
      simple little vigil
         memories of ours
            lives no longer living
               sadness in your eyes
                  lonely little children
                     no time for goodbyes

  • it seems as though, every time you pick up a paper or watch the news, there is another vigil, another tragedy, another altar of candles and roses.

  • another symbol of our mortality, our “finite-ness,” and our limited little journey toward the Infinite and Unlimited.

girlfriend: Opti-mystic

"in a world of mystics, wIe also Know of those who are called to be Optimystics."
-anonymous

definitions:

Opti: Optimum, Abundant, positive, etc.

mystic: mystical, ethereal, connected with that which is unseen.

an Opti-mystic: a person who is abundantly connected with the positive; a person with the ability to See Beyond the dueling dualities -- into the mystical mystory that is the human experience.

being an Optimystic does not mean that you never get down. ..it does not mean that you never worry. ..it does not mean that you never experience the negative.

Be-ing an Optimystic means that you experience the full spectrum. ..you (1) use your optimism to deal with challenges as they occur, and (2) allow that which is challenging to re-Mind you of all that there is to be grateful for.

Optimystic is a process. ..it's an unseen process that makes the scene.

thank you, jules, for Be-ing...

silly moth

yesterday (while driving to work), i noticed a moth who was clinging to the glass, in the middle of my driver's side window. ..it was odd, because he was getting blown back by the wind, yet managed to maintain contact with the glass.

i thought: do moths have sticky feet? ..how is he doing that?

as my speed increased, he began to get smashed against the glass.  ..refusing to let go, his little moth head would bash up against the window (again, and again, and again).

i began to wonder if we (humans) were like moths, when we cling to the very things (e.g. thoughts, habits) that cause us pain.

----------------

well (anyway), anyone who's ever driven in a car with a martineau knows that (in the 'neau) we pride ourselves on "talking" -- to g.p.s. systems, to other drivers, etc.

in keeping with tradition, i found myself giving the moth some words of encouragement in a way that reminded me of childhood:

"hey, moth! ..what are ya, stupid or somethin'?"

"why would any self-respecting moth beat itself to death!?"

"don't you have anything better to do?"

meanwhile, his head is repeatedly banging off of the window...

((in times like this, the martineaumind can lean toward love, or toward evil.))

i began to envision what was going to happen in less than a minute, when i got on 485 north and kicked the supercharged prius into overdrive. ..i'd show this silly moth a thing or two, and it would be a lesson that he'd never forget!

:)

anyway, i had to stop at a red light, at which point he decided to release and fly away.

-------------------

right now, he's probably out there somewhere, blogging about how he'd harassed a silly human who was rushing to a phenomenon called "work."

the end.
