for those of you who asked about Reverend Julie’s friend-message, below is a paraphrase of a poem that she read last sunday at Unity:

friends are radical:

they Love you when you're un-love-able,

they hug you when you're un-huggable, and

they bear you when you're unbearable.

friends are fanatical:

they cheer when the whole world boos,

they dance when you get good news, and

they cry when you cry too.

but most of all, friends are mathematical:

they multiply the joy,

they divide the sorrow,

they subtract the past, and

they add to tomorrow,

a friend can calculate the need deep in your heart.

a friend is All-ways bigger than the sum of all their parts.

* i’m not sure of the source of the poem.
