snorkel with manta rays (at naviti lobe)

on the island of naviti, you get to participate in a “manta ray snorkel trip.”
.

translation: you’re going to get taken out on the snorkel/dive boat, you’re going to get dropped into the big, blue ocean, and you’ll have to use your imagination if you want to visualize a manta ray.

the announcement states that "the chance of a manta ray sighting is (quote) fifty-fifty.”
translation: “you’ll love the beautiful coral and the remarkable diversity of fish.”

the korovou snorkel/dive boat was an improvement over the one on kuata.

translation: this one actually had seating.

below is a pre-snorkeling photo.

we did see octopi, an albino lobster, schools of fish, a sea snake, and some of the most brilliant coral that you’ll ever, ever see. ..cat & pete: the fish were smaller than those in aruba. ..willy: you'd love the pristine nature of these reefs. ..to the non-snorkelers: let us teach you how to snorkel!

at the end of this post are some below-the-surface pictures, from one of the guys who had an underwater camera. ..although the pictures can’t come remotely close to the actual colors and visuals, they’ll give you a little bit of an idea of what we were seeing.

left: this is our snorkel/dive boat captain (captain smieli). ..he stayed on the boat as we snorkeled, so he could reposition the boat to pick us up after the current carried us about 500 meters.
