blue ice, part 1

.
at franz josef glacier, everybody warns you about trying to get to the glacier without a guide.
.
they sound like the robot on "lost in space" ..."warning! warning! ...danger! danger!"
.
.
.
.
.
la--dee--______--da. ..(you can fill in the blank)
.
the bus driver says "if you cross over the lines, you do it at your own risk."
.
now, telling a martineau that he should not cross a line is like telling a mccoy that he should vote "democrat": it just makes us want to do more of that which you suggest we avoid.
.
my decision-making process went like this: other people are doing it, and so can i.
.
below is a picture of the rocky gorge, enroute to the glacier.

.
below is a picture of a flowing stream that is soooooo clear, you can hardly see the water.
.
below: glaciers + mountains = waterfalls
.

.
.
.
.
.
below: a glacial river
,
below: getting closer. ..now, you've got a real dilemma...
.
the dilemma: now you know that you'll be able to get close enough to touch the glacier, like a few of the other "non-guided" rebels are doing. ..but should you actually climb up on it, even though none of the non-guided rebels are doing that?????
.
stay tuned, for "blue ice, part 2" coming to a blog near you!
