"we'll be all right"

imagine breakfast, today, back in bangkok, thailand, and the restaurant tv is blasting "CNN international" loudly into your afferent sensory neuron receptor sites.
.
translation: you can't NOT look & listen-in.
.
there's a video of the most powerful man in the world, and the inscription underneath reemphasizes his message, which is: "we'll be alright."
.
someday when i'm 77 years old, i'll re-read this, so i've got to describe the setting:
.
1. planet earth is in the midst of a globally recognized economic and ecological crisis.
.
2. every international news program, every international headline, and every international person that you meet already knows what every american (well... almost every american) knows:
.
................we are not "alright." (and, we don't appear to be moving in that direction)
.
3. major u.s. organizations (and an amazing amount of international organizations) are just beginning to feel the results of a prolonged immediate-gratification process that can only result in dis-of-ease. we (as a species) might be diagnosed with a terminal cancer tomorrow, but the seeds of our cancer were planted long ago. we've nurtured it, we've cultivated it, and we've ignored the obvious symptoms while helping this economic-ecological cancer to grow.
.
"we'll be alright" also had a very distinct feel, as if he was saying "we" (the u.s.) will be alright.
.
at some point, our elected lawmakers have got to understand that "we" live in a global economy/ecology that is indescribably interconnected and completely interdependent.
.
................."we" has GOT to start meaning "all living things."
.
think about it: when a category 5 hurricane is approaching a major city for a direct hit, you just shake your head in disbelief at the exponential ignorance of the guy in the beach shack who looks at the pounding surf, then looks at his family and says: "we'll be alright."
.
truth is, it's gonna be one Hell of a storm.
.
truth is, we're all going to be affected.
.
truth is, no matter who gets elected in november, it's going to be an enormous challenge.
.
truth is, it's going to be painful.
.
i hope that whoever we elect will be articulate enough to:
.
1. admit that we've made some grave mistakes.
2. admit that it's going to be a difficult ride.
3. describe how all of us (including those who make the big-time, giant decisions that affect the world) are going to have to dig down deep if we hope to rescue a dis-eased planet.
.
there's Good news, however.
.
at a Higher Level, from a Spiritual Perspective, "We'll Be All Right" makes sense.
.
if the Real World is the world of Non-form, and if the physical, manifest world is the Play (the Dance, the Game, the Dream, Earth-School, etc., etc.)...
.
if we are (as wayne dyer says) "Spirit, having a physical experience..."
.
then this whole drama is an opportunity for Growth into a Higher Level of Consciousness.
.
since problems cannot be solved on the level which they were created, maybe we need to experience the pain of a caterpillar/cocoon phase -- so that (at some point) we'll be able to Fly.
.
here's to you, the individual people who are going to help get us off of the ground.
.
we are going to need each other, in ways that we've never imagined.
.
if i was there, i'd give you a big hug right now.
.
with love,
len
